Choose the Right Typestyle(Font) There are soooo many fonts available to use, and it is very tempting to use every one possible. Inexperienced designers will often try to use as many fonts as possible in their design.... all this does though is create a busy and cluttered look that people gloss over without even reading. As a rule, designers should choose only one 'elaborate' font for a design. These fonts should be complimented with more simple fonts used in phrases or body copy that must appear clear and legible. Fancy or elaborate fonts may look 'cool', but often they are not legible and make your viewers miss the message. When designing with a logo, use a font that compliments the logo. Especially when there is more than one message in the design, or an image is being used in the background, the fonts need to have more 'weight' or should be enhanced by adding italics, 'bold', outlines(stroke) or shadows. Contrasting colors also help make the text stand out and get noticed. So... to conclude: Always remember that creating a sign that works or gets attention isn't about just creating a design that looks cute ... it is FIRST about getting the message across. This is done by making the most of three things: Visibility, Readability and Legibility. When using our five EASY tips, your designs will look both good and work!
